Familinx

Terms of Service

Last updated 23 October 2026 · Effective from the first public release of Familinx

In plain words. Familinx is a tool for keeping a family's lists and budget in one place. It is free. What you type in stays yours, but what you add to a family is shared with that family and stays with them if you leave. Please don't use it to do anything illegal, and please remember it is a notebook, not a bank.

1. The agreement

These Terms are an agreement between you and John S. Halaka, an independent developer trading as Familinx ("we", "us"), covering the Familinx mobile application and this website (together, "Familinx").

By creating an account or using Familinx, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use Familinx. How we handle your personal data is described separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.

2. Who may use Familinx

3. Your account

4. Families, parents and children

A family is a shared space. The member who creates it is a parent, and parents may invite others, promote or remove members, set the family's budget settings and set monthly spending caps. Every member can add lists, items, transactions and contributions to shared content, and everyone in the family can see those.

An invite code or link lets anyone who has it ask to join your family. Treat it like a key and only send it to people you mean to let in. A parent approves or declines each request.

5. What you add

You keep ownership of the lists, transactions, goals and other content you add. We do not claim it, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train anything.

You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store your content, copy it between your devices and the devices of your family, back it up, and show it to the members of your family as the app is designed to. That permission ends when the content is deleted.

Shared content belongs to the family, not to the member who typed it. If you leave a family or delete your account, shared lists, shared budget accounts and the family's history remain with the remaining members, because they are their records too. Your personal accounts and your personal data go with you. The account deletion page sets this out line by line.

You are responsible for what you add, and for having the right to add it.

6. What you may not do

We may suspend or close an account that does these things. Where it is reasonable, we will warn you first.

7. Not financial advice

Familinx records numbers you type in. It is a notebook, not a financial institution, and it does not hold, move or transfer money. It is not connected to any bank, card or payment provider.

Nothing in the app is financial, tax, investment or legal advice. Figures, totals and cap warnings are calculated from what you entered, so they are only as right as that. Check anything that matters against your real statements, and talk to a professional before any decision that counts.

8. Price

Familinx is free to use. There are no in-app purchases and no subscription.

If we introduce a paid plan in the future, we will tell you in the app before anything is charged, and we will update these Terms first. Any paid plan would be sold through Google Play, which means Google is the seller, Google's payment terms apply, and billing, cancellation and refunds are handled by Google — not by us. The features you have today would not be taken away from you without notice.

9. Availability and changes

We want Familinx to be up all the time, and we cannot promise it. Maintenance, a provider's outage, or a fault can interrupt it, and we are not liable to you for the interruption itself.

We may add, change or remove features. If we remove something significant, or decide to discontinue Familinx altogether, we will give you reasonable notice in the app and time to export what you need.

The app keeps a copy of your data on your device, so most of it is readable even when the service is not reachable.

10. Ending the agreement

You can stop at any time: open Profile from your avatar on the home screen and choose Delete Account, or write to privacy@familinx.app from the address on your account. Uninstalling the app on its own does not delete your account.

We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if keeping it open would put other users or the service at risk. Except where that is not possible, we will tell you why.

Sections 5 (what you add), 7 (not financial advice), 11 (warranties and liability) and 14 (law and your local rights) continue to apply after the agreement ends.

11. Warranties and liability

Familinx is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits or lost business, or for loss of data beyond what reasonable care on our part would have prevented. Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, and for anything else your local law protects. See section 14.

Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. We take backups, but they are for recovering the service, not a substitute for your own records.

12. Third-party services

Familinx is distributed through Google Play and uses services from Google, Supabase, Resend and Cloudflare to run. Their own terms apply to what they provide, we do not control them, and we are not responsible for them. Google Play's terms apply to your download of the app; Google is not a party to this agreement.

Our Privacy Policy lists what each of these providers handles.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The date at the top says when they last changed. For a significant change we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Familinx after that, you accept the new Terms; if you do not want to, you can delete your account.

14. Law and your local rights

Familinx is offered worldwide and these Terms do not pick a single country's law to govern them. The consumer protection law of the country you live in applies to you in full, and nothing here takes away a right it gives you — including any statutory guarantee, any right to a remedy, and any right to bring a claim in your local courts.

If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable where you live, the rest still stands.

If something goes wrong, please write to support@familinx.app first. Most problems are faster to fix than to argue about.
